House Build

We're building a house!  We knew we buy a home still within Nate's school boundaries.  We love Nate's school and there are a lot of resources for him there. There's a development right behind Nate's school and we're going to build a house there. We're excited!

Foundation is dug out.

Footings are poured.

Basement walls are up.

August 2
We have a driveway.

August 8
Wood for framing our house has arrived and they've started.  Evy found part of the support beams that looks just like a hammer and keeps banging on things with it.

August 13
Framing has started.

August 22
It's our 10 year anniversary today and our house just finished framing.  It's so exciting to be able to walk through our future home!

September 2
The kids love going over to see the house.  And they love climbing all the dirt hills.

September 7
Siding is going up.

September 25
We just finished home gallery.  It was a good thing we were able to preview home gallery because there were a lot of decisions. We choose countertops, flooring, carpet, paint, tile, and so much more.  This was the funnest part of this whole process.

Electrical is going in.

October 3
Getting ready for a front porch. And we have a front door.

October 18
Drywall is going in.  Which is also when the builders schedule our closing date.  It's earlier than we expected.  We'll be in before Christmas.  We're so excited to have our home finished!

October 27
Something excited showed up in the garage yesterday.  Lots and lots of big boxes with our cabinets. I had to stop by today to see if they installed them and they did!  I LOVE THEM!!! So exciting walking in and seeing our kitchen taking shape.

November 5
Lots of changes at our house.  We have a mantle in the family room.  There is paint on our walls!  I know we took a risk going dark on the paint, but I LOVE IT!  I love the contrast it gives with the white mouldings and cabinets.  Also, our stair rails are in.  And unfortunately they did them wrong.  The spindles are meant to be white.  We're talking with the builder to get them fixed.

November 14
Tile is starting to get installed.  I am over the moon to actually have hexagon tiles in our shower.  And I am so happy with the tile we picked for the bath and shower surround.  They introduced it the 2nd week we were at home gallery so we might have missed it.  It's perfect.  The fireplace surround is also going up.  Loving the herringbone pattern.

Appliances are here!

Carpet has arrived.  The kids immediately took off their shoes and started running in big circles on the carpet.

Grout has gone in.  I love how the fireplace turned out.  The kitchen also got our sink and countertops installed.

Edgeless shower surround is in!

Kitchen backsplash is up.

December 3
We walked into a surprise.  Giant sheets of plastic up everywhere.  They are finally painting the spindles white on our banister.  They're cutting it close!

The banister looks so much better now that it's painted!

This beautiful home is ours. Today was closing.  Everything went pretty smoothly.  It feels like a dream! It was such a fun process to design our home and to have everything the way we want it.  I love it so much.  We can't wait to move in!
