Nathan & Evelyn

Nathan's done better than we expected with Evelyn.  We can tell he's needing more attention from us from how he's been acting, but he's been very sweet to his little sister.  Some of their more sweet moments together include:

- He calls her "Baby Evy" in the cutest way that warms my heart.
- When she cries he'll tell her, "It's ok Evy."
- Nathan wanted to "help" with Evy's first bath so we let him have a chair to watch.  When I changed Evy's poopy diaper Nathan reacted with a, "Eww yucky!  Yucky yuck.  You ok?"
- He'll give her the sweetest kisses on her head.
- During bedtime if Evelyn's with us Nathan will tell her goodnight.
- I had Evy sleeping on my lap when Nathan decided he wanted some snuggles too.  He climbed on up on the couch and laid himself down on top of us.
- He loves do to hi 5s and pound it with her.
- In an effort to keep Nathan from poking Evy in the eyes we've focused on getting him to count her fingers and toes.  He'll now do it unprompted when he sees her.
- He also will count other things like heads.  He points to her head, "One head," he'll point to his head, "Two heads."  Then he says, "Three heads!"  We're not sure why he ends up at three, but he's pretty resolute about it.
- Evy was crying in her swing and Nathan brought over a car for her to play with.
- Nathan will ask for his baby sister.  "Where Evy? Where she be?"
- Nathan knows that they both have blankies and will help get his baby sister a blanket.
- When Nathan came to the hospital to see Evelyn he started to play his version of hide and seek.  He went around the room trying to where she was.  He'd eventually find her and go back to his counting corner to count again.  The nurses thought it was the cutest thing.
- We were eating lunch one day when Evelyn started to cry upstairs in her crib.  Nathan ran upstairs and threw in a burp cloth for her.  It landed on her face which she didn't appreciate, but it's the thought that counts.
- Evelyn has a hard time in the evening and one night she woke Nathan up with her crying.  Brad went into help him get back to sleep.  Nathan pointed towards the crying and said, "Mom.  Evy.  Crying."

I'm so glad that Nathan is so sweet to his sister so far.  He doesn't get mad or agitated when she cries and actually tries to comfort her.  It's very cute to see the two of them interact.

I'm still enjoying how sweet he's been with Evy. Hopefully that continues. :)
