It's a BOY! Our sweet little baby boy was asleep when we started the ultrasound (not in a useful position), but he woke up at the end and helped us out. We were able to see everything we needed to today. He is healthy and growing well, which we are both grateful for.
While we were watching our baby's heartbeat, I asked Brad if he could tell what was what on our baby's heart. He said he could (the ultrasound was so detailed you could actually see all four chambers of the heart, so cool!) Our tech asked if Brad was in the medical field, and Brad explained that he was in dental school. After that our tech started pointing out more of what we were seeing. So while I didn't really know what they were seeing, Brad was very excited to know all the structures.
Also, while we were looking at the baby's head, I asked if the baby had teeth at this point. The tech said she wasn't sure. Brad said the teeth buds are there from early on, but they are so small and not calcified you can't see them. Go Brad for knowing the answer when the tech didn't.
Today we got to see baby's calcified bones, baby's tongue while he was swallowing, stomach, all ten fingers, baby's feet, head and profile, and yes, found out it's a boy. There was a lot more than that, but that's what I remember most. It was amazing to see how much our baby has grown. I think we got so used to seeing such a little peanut floating in there on our early ultrasounds (our last one was at 12 weeks) that it was surprising to see how big he is getting.
When he woke up it was so cute, he kept bringing up his hands to his face and rubbing his eyes (that's what he's doing in the picture.) At least that's what I think he was doing.
And for my dear sister who keeps threatening me, here's what I look like this week.

Yes yes yes! Finally a picture I can see of you and your cute belly! :) I can't wait to see you! PS I knew it was a boy. Thought I would just say that again ;)
Congratulations! I'm having a hard time seeing what part of the picture is what... I just see a blob. But he's your blob! I'm just so surprised and glad that he's healthy and doing well. Keep it up!
You look adorable Alisha!! Congratulations!!!
