No More Pathology Please

There is a horrible, terrible, no good class in dental school.  Pathology.  Brad studied for weeks and weeks for his cumulative final.  Which also meant no extra time to hang out with his awesome wife and son. We weren't too neglected and I blame Path, but we really, really wanted him back.

Well, during these 3 or so weeks of studying for his final there was Longwood's Spring Blooms festival.  I really was hoping Brad could go with us, but there wasn't time for him to go.  So I called a friend (who's husband was also studying for the same Path final) and we decided to leave our husbands to study uninterrupted while we would go to Longwood together.

I'm glad Rachel and Jake could come with us!  And we've both glad our husbands are done with Pathology.  Now onto the boards!

Bedtime

Bedtime at our house starts with a bath.

And then there are some jammies.

And we let Nathan do some wandering around in his room.

During which he usually tries to escape.

Oh how I love the curls at the back of his head.
They get pretty unruly, but after the bath they are so so cute.

And then this this sweet little boy curls up on mom's lap.  Dad makes his dramatic exit (peek-a-boo at the door) and Mom reads him his stories.  And to just add a little bit more sweetness, he lays his head on mommy's shoulder as she sings to him.

And then he cuddles his favorite blankie and goes peacefully to sleep.  His bedtime is pretty simple, but it's one of the best times of the day.  We're all together as a family and that boy is so so sweet.  One day that sweet little boy won't let mommy rock him to sleep and it breaks my heart to think of him growing up.  But I try to remind myself that's he's still little and I get to cuddle him as long as I want.

Grandma's Visit

Janet came to visit us over Mother's Day weekend.  Nathan loved having all of Grandma's attention, reading books and snuggling with her.  Most of our time was just spent being together. We did manage to bring Grandma to Longwood for a visit.

Longwood has a children's garden in the conservatory.  I've been waiting and waiting for Nathan to be old enough to enjoy it.  We gave it a try while we were there, but I think that we'll have to wait a little longer for Nathan to really get into it.  Mostly he wanted to eat the ledge.  He did enjoy the water for a little bit.

It was a short trip, but we enjoyed every minute with Janet.  We hope we can see her again soon!

- His favorite place to be is in is the kitchen.  He loves crawling around and investigating everything in there.
- He hasn't figured out the sippy cup.  We have invested in a few different kinds and have yet to find one he really likes.  I'm starting to wonder if he will ever figure it out (he never figured out the bottle either.)  Any suggestions?

- When he crawls, he usually brings a buddy along with him.  It doesn't really matter what.  Toy, blanket, clothing, whatever he has in his hand comes along with him.
- He goes crazy at bath time.  He is squirming, investigating, jumping, dumping, splashing, standing, spinning, wiggling, and just going everywhere.  He loves it!

- He is a messy, messy eater.  He loves to eat avocado and just slime everything.  I think he will give us a good show with his birthday cake next month.
- He can crawl up the stairs, Mommy watching of course.

- He loves to go outside, but doesn't like to sit in the grass.  He'll lift up his legs while he is sitting there and if he decides to crawl, he does it bear crawl style to avoid the pokey grass.
- He enjoys sitting in shopping carts.  He'll swing his legs back and forth and get the cart to move.

- Nathan has never been much of a snuggler until recently.  He loves to curl up against me while I sing his naptime/bedtime lullaby to him.
- Brad plays this game with Nathan that he finds hilarious.  Brad will poke his head in and out of Nathan's room and Nathan laughs hysterically when he sees Brad.

- He is such a fun little boy.  He loves to laugh, play, and explore.  We think he's a lot of fun to hang out with.

No No No

Nathan woke up from his nap the other day and was in the best mood.  He was so happy and silly.  What a ham!

Happy Birthday Brad!

Brad's birthday was pretty low key, just some cake and ice cream with friends.  It was nice just to be together with everyone.  We've all been busy with school and work that it's been awhile since we've all been together.

Doug also came in town for the weekend and took Brad out shopping.  They returned with this, a new grill!  Brad is so excited about it.  Brad's been asking for a grill for a long time, but our first apartment didn't allow them and it would have been stolen from our second.  Yeah for a home in the burbs!

Nathan helped us put it together.

We also celebrated with some friends from dental school.  We went out for Famous Dave's after one of their finals and then the next day had them over for a BBQ on the new grill.

Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate Brad's birthday!
