Morris with Dentography

Brad's photography club, Dentography, had another club activity at Morris Arboretuem.  We had a great time enjoying the fall leaves.

We saw this amazing trail on our way to the Morris Arboretum and had to stop on our way home to grab a few pics.  Next time we will have to spend more time exploring it.

New England Fall

Last year was our first New England fall. I was sick, sick, sick so we missed going to see all of the fall colors.  This year, we were determined to get out to see a New England fall.  We found a good weekend when Brad could get away with not studying and made our plans.

Then the night before when I was doing laundry, I did a stupid thing.  I was coming up the basement stairs when I somehow managed to hit my knee on the top step.  Hard.  I was so worried that my knee might not be up to a trip to Longwood the next day.  There is a ton of walking at Longwood.  But if worse came to worst, I could rent an old person jazzy scooter for free with our membership though it would be a severe hit to my pride.

Luckily for me, Brad took great care of me and my knee did ok with all the walking. And walk we did.  We went to a couple areas we haven't ever been to.  It was the perfect day to go and the colors were spectacular.  I loved just hanging out with my boys for the day.

4 Months

I love taking photos of Nathan and he's usually pretty cooperative.  Yesterday, as we were taking his 4 month photos he didn't particularly like the flash on the camera.  He would smile for the photo, but after the flash would go off he would scowl.  We were having a lot of fun watching his changing expressions.

Here are a few things about Nathan at 4 months.

  • After a few bad, bad, bad weeks of waking up several times a night and some sleeping training, he is now sleeping through most of, if not all of the night (he's done in 3 times this week!)  Knock on wood.
  • His stats at 4 months: 14 lbs, 6.5 oz (26.13 percentile), 24.8 inches long (31.22 percentile), and 15.94 head circumference (14.79 percentile.)

  • He is a finger sucker.  Usually it's just two fingers, but sometimes he jams three in there.  I can hardly keep them out of his mouth.
  • Likes his nighttime rub down with lotion.  He gives me a lot of cute noises while I'm giving him his baby massage.

  • If you come pick him up after a nap he will give you the biggest smile.
  • One way to make him happy is to rub his head.  It's usually a pretty good way to get him talking to you.

  • He has figured out how to stick out his bottom lip.  The little nugget looks like he's pouting.
  • His favorite time of day is when Brad gets home from school.  It's even better than bath time.  And I think it's Brad's favorite time of day too.  They go and play together just the two of them.  I love seeing my boys together.

Battleship New Jersey

This last Saturday was Museum Day.  The long and short of it is that you can go see a participating museum for free!  Yes please.  There were quite a few participating in our area, but the Battleship New Jersey (#32) topped our list.  We've wanted to see it, but it was a little out of our sightseeing budget normally.

So we planned it out.  I invited some friends from our church while unbeknownst to me Brad invited his photography club from dental school.  We ended up with quite a few people coming along.

The Photography Club

Anyways, on Saturday we packed up little buddy, took our first trip over the Ben Franklin Bridge into New Jersey, and saw the Battleship.  Before going I didn't know how cool this battleship really was.  It is the most decorated battleship, fought in 17 battles, and served in 4 wars (WWII, Korean, Vietnam, and Gulf.)

Funny story.  The dental group arrived first so they went ahead while I waited about 5 minutes for our friends to arrive.  I thought that with all the photos they would be taking for sure we would catch up to them.  We never did.  Turns out Brad's group accidentally followed a tour group and went on a different route of the boat.  They ended up missing out on about half of the ship.  And it was all the really cool stuff too like the navigation deck, Tomahawk Missiles, museum, and the helicopter.  Their mishap paid off in another way.  They convinced one of the veterans to show them the dental facilities since they were from the dental school.

We're glad so many of our friends could come with us.  We had a great time!

Happy Little Boy

Nathan got really excited the other day.  And you know what?  He giggled.  Just a little bit.  So I got excited and grabbed the video camera hoping to get him to do it again.  He didn't giggle again, but he sure was acting cute and being talkative.

So if you'll forgive my annoying attempts to get him to giggle I'll let you see it.
