Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was pretty quiet this year.  Which was kind of wonderful.  The kids were in love with their turkey headbands we made and insisted on wearing them during our Thanksgiving meal of . . . ham.

Both Nate and Evy were so excited about the tree and wanted to help put it up.  And the day the tree goes up, is the day Santa drops off our Christmas jammies to enjoy all season long.  The kids changed out of one pair of Christmas jammies into their new ones!  We just love Christmas jammies around here.

Zoo Day

Denver Zoo offers free days every once in awhile and it's been forever since we've been to the zoo.  So I decided to take the kids and go.  Little did we know that the Denver area schools were out that day so the zoo was nuts!  It took me 20 minutes to find a parking spot and then 20 minutes to walk in.  But it was worth it.  Even though there were lots of people we were still able to get up to see all the animals we wanted to.  And the animals were all out the day we went.  Nate and Evy loved it.  They were both just so in awe of all the animals.

Nate asked all day to go see the turtles. All he wanted to do was stay by the fish tanks so he could watch the turtles swim by.

When we walked up to the snake tank, Nate stepped forward and Evy stepped back.

But neither of them was afraid of the alligator.

But the highlight of the day was definitely the carousel.  I know they don't look it, but they both LOVED it.

Evelyn at 21 Months

- She is all girl!  She loves skirts, dresses, pink, hair bows, purses, shoes, and babies.
- She loves cheese!  She routinely asks for a slice off the block in the fridge.

- She's a little runner.  She especially loves running and jumping on daddy.
- Destructive.  So so so destructive.  She will rip and tear and bite.  I can't let her get a hold of anything when we go shopping otherwise she destroys it before we even get to the checkout.

- Evy is always reminding us.  To pray. To brush her teeth.  To go get Nate.  She always remembers.
- Evy misses Nate so much when he is gone at preschool.  She will ask for him several times and occasionally will get sad that he's not there to play with her.
- I love it when she sings.  And she's pretty good at remembering all the words.  My favorite is when she sings, "If You're Happy and You Know It" and she shouts "Hooray!"

- She's a champion nursery goer.
- Starting to ask questions and put sentences together.  It's amazing to hear her talk and realize how much she already understands about language.

- She loves to "help" in the kitchen.  She is constantly pulling out the measuring cups.  And the bowls.  And she loves it if I let her help mix anything.
- Likes to play trains and space ships with her brother.

- She is so sneaky!  Nate's therapists are constantly finding her with their pens, phones, and shoes.
- Evy definitely has a sweet tooth.
- She gives to best hugs.

- Evy loves her dolly.  She can't leave her crib without her dolly and loves to take her with us.
- She is a huge fan of Daniel Tiger.

- Loves to play outside, especially in the one patch of dirt we have in the backyard.
- She loves when Nate's therapists come.  She loves to sing all the songs and wants to do everything Nate is doing.

- Loves books. She especially loves the Chapbooks and seeing pictures of her.
- She will not wear a sleep sack anymore and on occasion I've come in to find her with nothing on in her crib after a nap!

- It's a good thing she is so so so cute.  She needs it to balance out all of her destructiveness.  But she is usually the happiest, smiliest, cutest, sweetest little girl.  Oh I love her.

Off to Neverland!

It's kind of nice to pick out my kids costumes while they are young.  That way I can make them do family costumes.  Before October, Nate and Evy had no idea who Peter Pan was.  I checked out the movie from the library and they both loved it.  Nate thought Peter Pan was hilarious.  And Captain Hook and Smee too.  Nathan would laugh so hard watching Peter Pan.

Needless to say, Nate and Evy thought dressing up as Peter Pan and Wendy was the best idea ever.  These two have loved trying on their costumes and saying, "I can fly!" and "Off to Neverland!"

Preschool Party

We're lucky that we got to have family in town again for Halloween this year.  We had so much fun carving pumpkins, going on drives, trick or treating, and lots of walks.  These kids sure love Grandma, Papa, and Auntie Lou!
